Privacy Policy
STORRIE Architecture PLLC ("STORRIE") operates this website. This policy describes information involved when you use the site and its current features. Questions about this policy or information you have sent to us can be directed to info@storrie.org.
Information you provide
When you email us about a project, press inquiry, or career application, your email service sends the information you choose to include. When you book a consultation through this website, STORRIE uses your contact details, selected appointment, time zone and answers to arrange and manage the meeting. Bookings are managed through an in-house booking system, with Google Calendar used for availability checks and calendar display, and Resend used to deliver booking emails. Booking does not require newsletter signup or optional analytics.
Newsletter and marketing emails
You can separately request occasional email updates from STORRIE. These may include studio and project news, staff news, and announcements or offers concerning STORRIE offerings.
Requesting signup does not subscribe you immediately. Our server sends a confirmation email through Resend. The link expires after 24 hours, and you must deliberately confirm the subscription. A confirmed subscription remains active until you unsubscribe.
You can unsubscribe using the link shown after successful subscription confirmation or the unsubscribe link in our newsletter and marketing emails. Client-portal users can also unsubscribe in their contact settings. Unsubscribing stops newsletter and marketing emails, not necessary account, booking or project messages.
Newsletter permission is separate from optional visitor statistics, consultation booking and acceptance of Client Portal Terms. For assistance, contact info@storrie.org.
How we use information
We use information to respond to project, press and career inquiries; arrange and manage consultations; provide and administer authorized client-portal access; and support project communications. We use subscription information to manage confirmed newsletter subscriptions and deliver newsletter and marketing emails within that permission. Necessary account, booking and project messages are separate from marketing.
We also use technical information to deliver and secure the website, prevent misuse, and maintain records of requests, permissions and withdrawals. Optional visitor statistics are used to understand public website use only with the separate permission described below.
Legal bases for processing
Where EU or UK data-protection law applies, we rely on the following grounds for the activities listed here.
Consent: We rely on your consent for optional visitor statistics and newsletter marketing. These permissions are separate and can be withdrawn independently as explained in this policy. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on that consent before withdrawal.
Contract necessity: We use personal information where necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you, or to perform a contract with you. This basis applies where you are personally a party to the relevant contract or request steps toward one; it does not automatically apply because you act for a company or other organization.
Legitimate interests: Where the contract basis does not apply, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to routine project, press and career inquiries, arranging requested consultations, communicating with representatives of client organizations and administering authorized client-portal access. Our interests are responding to people who contact us and managing our client relationships. We also rely on our legitimate interests in protecting accounts, systems and records from misuse. We use information on this basis only where necessary and where our interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
Accepting website Terms or using booking or client-portal services does not itself grant either optional permission.
Information involved in visiting
Requests to the site involve technical information needed to deliver the page, such as an IP address and browser details. Cloudflare is contacted when you engage the newsletter form. Scheduling uses server-side Google Calendar availability checks. These providers may receive technical information when your browser contacts them.
Fonts
This website loads fonts from Google. When your browser requests them, Google receives your IP address and technical information about your browser and the request. These requests happen when the page loads, even if you reject optional visitor statistics.
Google states that its Fonts service does not set or log cookies or use this information to create advertising profiles or target advertisements.
Service providers
We use hosting and database services to operate the website and store its records. We use Resend to deliver subscription-confirmation, newsletter, booking and other service emails, and Cloudflare Turnstile to help verify relevant form submissions.
We use Google for the hosted fonts, Calendar functions and optional Analytics described in this policy. These are separate functions: refusing optional visitor statistics does not stop the Google-hosted font requests or the server-side Calendar checks needed for scheduling.
A provider may process information on our behalf for some functions and have separate responsibilities under its own terms and privacy policy for others.
Optional analytics
Google Analytics can load only after you select “Accept” for optional visitor statistics, or return with a valid saved acceptance. This permission is separate from newsletter signup and acceptance of Client Portal Terms.
We use Google Analytics, provided by Google, to count visits to public pages and understand how people use this website. Google may receive browser identifiers, browser and device information, technical request information including an IP address, and approximate location. These statistics are not completely anonymous.
Our project-view reporting uses randomly assigned reporting keys instead of project names, addresses, public project URLs or internal database IDs. STORRIE keeps the mapping between those keys and projects.
Permission for optional visitor statistics does not authorize advertising or contact-detail tracking.
Selecting “Reject non-essential” keeps optional visitor statistics off. If your browser indicates that Global Privacy Control (GPC) is enabled, the site also keeps these statistics off, even when an earlier acceptance is saved. The Accept control is unavailable while GPC is enabled.
GPC does not unsubscribe you from newsletters, cancel requested bookings or block the separate hosted-font, scheduling and newsletter requests described in this policy.
Cookies and browser storage
Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage where available. If a refusal cannot be saved there, the site attempts to use a first-party denial cookie named storrie_analytics_denied. After you accept optional visitor statistics, Google Analytics may set first-party measurement cookies such as _ga and names beginning _ga_.
Your saved statistics choice lasts for six calendar months. When a saved acceptance expires, Analytics stays off unless you accept again. If browser storage cannot save a refusal, the first-party denial cookie can preserve it for up to 183 days. Clearing browser storage or cookies can remove a saved choice earlier.
These choice records are separate from Google Analytics measurement cookies. Measurement cookies may renew on later visits, so their expiry should not be treated as a fixed deadline from your first visit. The expiry of your choice or a cookie does not itself delete information already sent to Google.
You can change or withdraw your choice through “Analytics settings” under Small Print. Turning visitor statistics off disables Analytics and attempts to clear accessible first-party Analytics cookies. It does not erase information already sent to Google or prevent the separate font, scheduling and newsletter requests described above.
You can also clear cookies and local storage through your browser. Blocking storage may prevent the site from remembering your choice.
If a change to your statistics choice cannot be saved, the site will tell you.
Third-party services such as Cloudflare Turnstile may use their own technologies under their own policies. This site does not control storage set by third-party services.
Sign-in and requested services
We use session cookies to support administrator and client-portal sign-in and newsletter confirmation or email-verification steps. These cookies support the requested service and are separate from optional visitor statistics.
How long information is kept
Retention periods for inquiries, applications, bookings and client/project records depend on the nature and purpose of the information, any continuing business need, and applicable legal and professional recordkeeping requirements, including those governing the practice of architecture. Relevant retention considerations include the purpose of the information, whether an inquiry, application, appointment or project remains active, and applicable legal, professional, accounting and dispute-related requirements.
Unsubscribing stops newsletter and marketing emails; it does not itself delete client accounts, booking or project records, or records of subscription permissions and withdrawals. Browser-choice and cookie lifetimes are explained separately above and are not deletion deadlines for other information.
For questions or requests concerning information we hold about you, contact info@storrie.org.
International processing
STORRIE is based in the United States. Information described in this policy may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Data-protection laws in those countries may differ from those in your country.
For information about where your information is processed and any safeguards applicable to international transfers, contact info@storrie.org.
Your privacy rights and requests
Depending on the law that applies to your information, you may have rights to access and receive a copy of your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict processing, or receive certain information in a portable format. These rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions.
Your right to object: Where EU or UK data-protection law applies, you may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may object to processing for direct marketing at any time.
To make a privacy request, contact info@storrie.org. Where necessary and permitted by law, we may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your identity or someone’s authority to act for you. We handle requests within the time limits required by applicable law. Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Where EU or UK data-protection law applies, you may also complain to a relevant supervisory authority, including an authority in the EU/EEA country where you live or work or where an alleged infringement occurred, or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. You do not have to contact us first before making a complaint.
Newsletter unsubscribe and Analytics withdrawal remain available through the separate controls described above; you do not need to submit a general privacy request to use them.
Updates
We may revise this policy as the site or our information practices change. We publish revisions on this page and update the last-updated date shown above. The effective date identifies when the published version takes effect.
Where applicable law requires additional notice or fresh consent for a change, we will provide that notice or request that consent before the relevant change takes effect. Publishing a revised policy does not itself grant permission for optional visitor statistics or newsletter marketing.
For questions about this policy or requests concerning your information, contact info@storrie.org.
